Yeah, having formatted a few epub/mobi books by hand, I can say that it's typically the formatting that is the problem and not the device.

It seems like a lot of people (even "professionals") simply use automated methods of converting their manuscripts to various ereader formats - with little to no attention paid to images and the steps required to get them to display well on various shaped/sized readers.
