This issue has absolutely nothing to do with the ereader device used.
The issue is with the publishers who create the ebooks and with what content they choose to include in the ebook version. It is, unfortunately, all too common for illustrations and other graphics to be omitted.
The major ebook formats support graphics. The small size of some reading devices makes it necessary for complex graphics (e.g. maps) to be reworked for the ebook editions. Some publishers choose to omit such graphics rather than put any work into altering them for the smaller display.
