OK - we all like to laugh at cartoons printed in magazines, like the New Yorker. But using the term cartoon to describe such an image is a far cry from the original meaning of cartoon - which was a full size drawing on heavy paper or pasteboard made by Renaissance artists, and used to create frescoes or complicated paintings.
