My Nook is about 9 months old, so far, so good. I do have it in an Oberon cover (but no wool felt on mine) and I also bought a nice padded bag for it (Tom Bihn iPad Ristretto), since A) I needed a new bag badly and B) Nook goes everywhere with me.

Mine has fallen off a chair while in the bag, no problem. I take it around with me everywhere. However, I have had one of my cats walk on it a couple times, which scares me every time it happens! She's not the lightest cat either. I usually try to close the cover if she comes around, but sometimes she's quicker than I am, especially if I've been reading in bed. She's also trod on it while the cover is closed.

Hubby dropped his Nook in the original BN cover, no damage. More recently, he fell on a concrete walkway while carrying his Nook in its Oberon cover (also no wool felt on his), though he did his best while falling to set the Nook down and apparently succeeded, because it is still working fine.

However, because of the cats, we did get the extended warranty, so if we broke our Nooks, we could get them replaced. Of course, now that refurb Nooks are so cheap, I'm thinking we could've saved our money on the warranty... but hubby felt better about getting it at the time.

At any rate, the devices have been sturdy, knock on wood!
