My K1 in an Oberon did just fine traveling in a back pack through Australia and New Zealand but that was on airplanes, in cars, and that type of thing.
If you are talking about backpacking as in everything in the backpack and camping, I have no idea what would be good. You would want something lighter then an Oberon to save on weight.
