I always kept my iPad in the official Apple cover but I didn't like it cause it was hard to hold while open (reading) and when I put it on my home-made cardboard stand the cover caused it to wobble and lean no matter what I did. As a result I got rid of the fancy cover. Now I use it without the cover. When not in use I just slip it into into a padded Jiffy Mailer (Bubble Mailer). My iPad fits perfectly into a #2 mailer.
