What OS are you installing on (I'm guessing Windows)? How old is your computer? Which Calibre version are you trying to install?
The "determining disk space" phase has traditionally taken a long time due to the type of files Calibre is made up of, but has recently improved quite a bit due to some restructuring. If you're trying to install the lastest release on a moderately modern computer, it shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes at most.
