Personally, I think it's the most dangerous place on earth to be a bike rider. The laws are completely ignored in favor of bribing the traffic cop. There is no reason to look left or right to see if the way is clear because as a good Buddhist, you're going to be reborn anyway. And the two Golden Rules apply: he who is bigger gets the right-of-way, and who gives a sh!t Just go!
During the 8 years I lived in Thailand, I saw either ; an accident just happen, an accident that happened within the last 2 hours, or an accident that happened within the past 6 hours... EVERY DAY THAT I WAS IN THE KINGDOM.

I do plan on riding through Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and then China, if I can and then Korea, Japan and by boat back to Alaska and down through to my home city. It's a dream and I'm working on the logistics, the only problem so far seems to be China, everywhere else travel isn't restricted like it is in China.
As I said before, I've run into a quite a few people riding around the world. Although China does have more restrictions, it's not all that difficult to arrange a good route. More difficulties were found in the various shipping requirements when needed to cross waters.
