Well .... Norse men had the habit of acquiring wives by kidnapping them from other tribes ... and they hid out until the woman's father gave up looking for her, and the happy(?) couple could return to live safely(?) in the husband's tribe. This was generally around one month/30 days. During this time the kidnapped woman was given mead (made from honey) every day, which not only kept her from trying to escape but was thought to aid in successful conception. Thus: honeymoon = drinking honey mead for a month (moon cycle).
