Most annoying thing is that they are constantly sending me emails about new titles for the Nook and that i should get one (for the last year).. for all kinds of reasons but when you do and a family friend goes out of their way to help out (and here's no obvious DO NOT BUY ONE WARNING IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO USE IT IN THE USA on their website) you have to really ask if B&N know what they are trying to achieve.
I guess you have not bothered to read many posts on this forum about this subject.

Why can't you register it ?

if you don't have wi-fi at home go down to the local MacDonalds and use their free wi-fi..

B&N would love to sell their product all over the world but the publishers won't let them sell the books outside the US ...that is not B&N fault!

I don't know if they have changed their policy, but in the past they never would ship a reader outside the US, everyone complained that they had to use a 3rd party to get the reader. Also if they noticed that the 3rd party was a freight forwarder they would send the buyer an email to contact them where they would explain in detail the restrictions so you understood, but they would still send it, if you said you did understand. I believe they have stopped doing that last bit because of complaints from people.

So I have no idea what you are complaining about ,, you said you want to root it.. so I guess you don't want to use the B&N shopping feature.. that is the only restriction with their readers outside the US...

B&N have sold a large number of nooks and nookcolors outside the US .. I have both and a number of my friends have them working without any problem. Hell if you do a basic root you can install a vpn service on the nookcolor and use their B&N shopping feature as well, just as if you are in the US.
