May I add:
Gloria Naylor wrote a book back in the 80's, called _Mama Day_. If it were written now it would totally be classified as urban fantasy. It takes place mostly on the barrier islands and there's some voodoo. All y'all should read it and get back to me about what you think. Be aware, it will probably break your heart.
