There are refurbished Nooks on sale right now. Have a look at the Nook forum. And the Kobos are down to, if I remember it correctly, 60$ at the closing borders stores.

A reader can pay for itself as there are lots of free ebooks available. We have Deals and Freebie section here and thousands of books in the Patricia Clarke Memorial Library. And than there are the free books on Amazon or B&N, Sony, Smashwords.

Before you know it, you will have a virtual TBR of 1,000 books. That happened to me at last and I got my first reader just 6 month ago
