All screens are sensitive to bending, twisting and too much pressure. Normal use does not affect them, most people have their readers for a couple of years. Check your reading habits, is it possible you apply some kind of twisting force to it, when you hold it in your hands? Also a sturdy cover is a must have. When transporting it in a backpack it is advisable to put it into some kind of hard case, someone suggested tupper ware, which seems to be an excellent idea.
