I don't know how it is for other people but when I get into a story I tend to get totally into my head . I think it's a safe bet to say that this is the way most everyone ENJOYS books - but not everyone experiences them that way.
I know people who don't like reading - unless technical manuals - simply because they cannot get the "movie" running in their heads.
Then again, I know someone who doesn't have an inner voice when reading but still enjoys doing so.
