It was originally thought to be the Bristlecone Pine tree, but more recent evidence seems to lead to a type of creosote bush found in the Mojave Desert. The tree is a single organism, rated about 5,000 years, while the creosote bush has a weird way of growing, sort of expanding from it's outer surface. They are suggesting that the inner growth area is over 8,000 years. Personally, I don't think anything can be older than my second grade teacher, Miss Olliphant. She was REALLY ancient and smelled like flowers.
