The answer I'm looking for is not what scholars might surmise, but what the Bible says. According to Matthew, wise men came from the East and brought presents. How many were there (wise men, not presents) according to the author of that book?

Correct. One of the three questions has been answered.

If I had asked the question without using the word
Mitzvah, I'd be tempted to give this one to you, but no. That answer might suffice for the majority of Christians, but Jews have a different take on what constitutes a "commandment."
CLUE: According to Rabinnic Judaism, the Hebrew Bible (which is fairly identical with the protestant
Old Testament) contains 613 commandments, and "Thou shall have no other Gods before me!" is far from being the first.

Now, I did not know that. It would have made a good trivia question in its own right. It would have stumped me!
