I have bad experiences from trying to use USB type chargers for my PRS-600. No damage or anything THAT bad, just no charge. It (or they - tried a couple I had at home) actually drained it instead of charging it! Probably for the reason "elcreatice" writes about.

I bought a (non-Sony) charger to plug into the round charger hole instead. Worked perfectly and allowed me to charge while reading!
