505 and 600 need a barrel connector PSU... PSP type was ideal - need 5V @500mA to 2000mA range. USB external PSUs not recommended, don't usually work as they fail to provide correct conditions on the USB port to charge...

Correct type with barrel connector also allows reading whilst charging...

Check forum for more details... there have been several longstanding and detailed threads covering PSU topics... just note that all PRS prior to x50s use barrel connector Philips mini) and x50s all use micro USB like mobile phones...
