Sometimes one has to listen to his/her own body I think. Either way.
A few years ago, I made a trip to Chile, to join my partner there. As it is a long airvoyage, about 15 hours and another trip from Santiago to the Atacama-desert, everybody told me to drink a lot, because of the dehydration.
And that's what I did; hating every sip. When I arrived; my ankles were swollen and remained that way for over a week! And I never retain water anywhere.
It seems to be a very individual thing; the water-management.
My daughter drinks all day; water, tea, lemonade......liters/gallons.
