I have actually heard a lot of this issue from the IT press lately and it seems that the industry is working on a standard of chargers for everything from cell phones to book readers. Imagine a day when you have a kindle in one hand a Nook in the other and and Sony PRS on the table in front of you and you hook up one charger with three outlets that plug into all three devices and charge all of them with one charger. The industry has not gotten that far as yet. The industry is also working on wireless charging where you set your readers to charge and set down on any surface and via your wireless network it charges itself off your network.

Alas those days are yet to come so for now you will need dedicated chargers.
