It's only a pain because you think it is one. Outside of your own privacy concerns, and specific tech support needs, there is no reason to ever deactivate a machine. Deactivating does not get you an activation count back.

No it's a pain because of the way it is designed. If the computed crashes such that it can't be brought up. There is no way to deactivate without dealing with Adobe. This is a PITA to anyone having to do it. Additionally if someone has many machines or has done many activations then IT IS an issue and a PITA.
