Can't help with TV content or special file formats. But for DVDs, try DVDecrypter or Smartripper to rip and PocketDivXEncoder to encode. And BetaPlayer to play. And I think a graphics accelerator for the VGA Dell x50v is available also. All free! You can also download free old movies. See

I use BetaPlayer, and it's great. Plays divx (mpeg4 + mp3) on my Toshiba e405 with no problem. One of the best features seems trivial - I can start the movie and fill up the landscape screen just by tapping the video. And I pause it and go back to the main console in portrait by another tap on the screen. Just wish that (1) the playlist had an option to delete the file without going to file explorer to do it, and (2) you could enter a time to jump directly to in the file.
