I look at it this way: Amazon does not officially support reading library books on Kindle, so why should libraries support using Kindles to read library books?

There is also the DRM issue to contend with: Ignoring the legality of stripping DRM, one must also consider the fact that libraries are most likely contractually obligated to use DRM when lending books and that advising and assisting patrons to break said DRM may well be breach of that contract.

I am also concerned (as a layperson) that since most of the arguments supporting the legality of DRM-stripping do rest on the foundation of being able to do what one wants with one's own property, they may not apply to library books anyway.
