Yeah the LOTR movies were excellent, though I still have a beef with omission of the Tom Bombadil story. Movies that I thought were better than the book include Blade Runner (book Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep), as were the movies Gone with the Wind and Ben Hur. On the other hand the movies Catch 22 and Last Temptation of Christ were no where near as good as the respective books. In fairness though I don't think Last Temptation of Christ can be put to film. The worst film adaption I've ever seen though was Scarlet Letter starring Demi Moore (G.I Jane goes to Puritan Boston

). I am still surprised Hawthorne did not arise from the grave to demand that the title of his book be removed from that film.
