I disagree.
We'll know for sure if they start giving Kindles away like some are predicting they will.
But I think Amazon wants to sell books. That's why the make free Kindle apps.
The Kindle system encourages you to buy mostly from them.
I predict that at some point, they'll decide hardware growth sales have flattened, and most folks who want a reader already have one, and the Kindle system as garnered them as many loyal customers as they can hope for, then maybe the WILL sell ebooks that work on other readers too.
