I'm the same way, but with Amazon's free samples, some enticingly low prices and the way-too convenient one-touch purchasing and instant delivery, I find my self buying more than I thought I would. Sort of like shopping at a cheap used book store....the sample looks good...99 cents, what the heck....

If you are not interested in buying from Amazon and you want library lending, why consider a Kindle? Why not a nook classic. say?
(I know there are reasons, I'm just curious as to yours.)
