Basically, yes. The old Overdrive mobi's had to be tweaked so that they would accept the Kindle's PID as a key, but the encryption was the same. And as things work now, Amazon's two-week limited, "lent" ebook DRM is the same as their "purchased" ebook DRM. The key to the lock just "breaks" after two weeks.
If you're talking about the encryption that the Mobipocket Creator software can apply to mobi's that you create... that
is completely different than Amazon's DRM.
