I had an author thank me for a good review on my blog, and several thank me for good reviews on goodreads. It didn't bother me at all. It's not going to stop me saying what I think of their other books (which will probably be good, as I like those authors, but who knows?).
The authors I've given negative reviews to have been, one and all, classy enough to remain silent. I think an author can probably get away with correcting factual errors in a (negative) review as long as they are very calm about it, but that's about it.
