Plugged it into one of the back USB ports, disconnecting other devices as recommended. Turned on the Cybook and it immediately popped up on Mobipocket Reader and is copying the e-books. Thanks, everyone!!!

I'm a little surprised as I haven't had previous trouble with the USB port I first used--it's the one on the front of the computer and of course is easier to get to. I don't anticipate having to sync that often, though, so it's not a big deal.
