I learned the credit card trick back in the '60s from reading the Dick Tracy comic strip in our daily paper. The Sunday comics always had a "Crimestoppers' Textbook" section that detailed how to avoid crime (or commit them, if you were so inclined). I've entered many a locked door using that bit of knowledge from the Crimestoppers' Textbook. Fortunately, like my signature forging skills, I only use my powers for good.
