Just PSA? Because that would not be surprising. I think that
universal testing of PSA-DRE has yet to be proven effective at improving mortality (unlike, for instance, breast cancer screening), and so it is brought down to informed decision and possibility (symptoms and family history). I think here, however, if you're having the full battery of blood tests, some doctors might just bung PSA in anyway if you're over a certain age. I think it's meant to be done with a DRE, but perhaps doctors are using the convenience of simultaneous testing to filter for higher risks without universally DREing the lot.
The SLE test (lupus) was specifically done for me though as my sister an mother both have it. All the other tests were just general bloodwork and cholesterol.
