I suspect that you have some corrupted fonts on your system.

Also:
Check your 'Tweak' settings:
# Specify which font to use when generating a default cover
You may hav an 'odd' font chosen (or the one that was, is no longer on your system)

NOTE: Chkdsk only checks for damaged filesystem structure, not for corrupted/infested file content.
