on the wifi, The device is waking up to check for newspapers and subscriptions. If you don't subscribe to newspapers or magazines, go into the options and turn it off. With the original firmware, it used to turn on more often than it should and kill the battery faster than intended. this was supposedely fixed in the first firmware update.
