Sounds like a plausible explanation. I certainly noticed improved battery lifetime after I disabled indexing and my wifi usage pattern is similar to yours (a few news documents downloaded almost daily but wifi turned off most of the time otherwise). Why don't you simply try not turning the wifi on or disabling indexing for a few days and see what you get? There is no other way to find out.

It always depends on how often is it actually used. If you turn it on once a week for a while then 3 weeks are poor

I never got 3 weeks with mine but it is used rather heavily - around 1-2 hours a day on average, news downloaded almost daily, some hacking, some audiobooks...
