I suspect that you are describing a situation that is specific to the US; I've never encountered anybody here in the UK who's ever heard of the Kindle. On the other hand, I
did meet someone who asked me if my CyBook Gen3 was a Sony Reader; I had great pleasure in telling him "no" and pointing out its numerous advantages over the Sony
