Kindle 3G antenna hack

For fringe coverage situations, has anyone looked at doing a Kindle 3g external antenna hack? This is a screen shot from ZDnet's Kindle 3 teardown

The Anydata quad-band 3G radio uses a "hirose, u.fl-r-smt, 50ohm" SMT connector, which seems quite standard, according to AnyData's specsheet.

Any number of stock quad-band hi-gain antennas should probably work with this, I would assume.

coupled with something like this 8-inch U.fl to N-Male 8 Inch Cable for 6 bucks: http://www.wlanparts.com/product/CA1...nch-Cable.html
