Is the cover image considered 'metadata', and if so, how do I retain this image when I import the .LIT file?

I also can not download any of the covers... I've tried that. I get the following error even though the title and author are correct:

'Could not find cover for this book. Try specifying the ISBN first'.

Thanks,

cover.jpg in the book title folder is for Calibre cover browser (and future converts).
The 'tick' say where to try a obtain that cover on import
IF you have a different (way older) cover, like I do, that you wish to use, you remove the tick.
The fact that you mention this, means you are poking around beneath Calibre's skirts. Heed all the warnings you see here in MR
