The Mt. Aso volcano is quite active! And there are several other volcanoes on Kyusho too, often releasing puffs of steam now and then. Of course, with the luck I have with natural disasters, I think I may just line my riding clothes with asbestos and Nomex! It's all that volcanic action that keeps Kyushu's hot springs bubbling. Some towns have vendors selling boiled eggs and corn on the cob that they boil for customers in water coming out of the ground. In the village of Beppu, most of the homes are heated in winter by the natural hot water that they divert through pipes in their floors! We plan to stay in a different onsen each night, but the ones I really like have outdoor natural rock pools, so you can lie back, watch the stars, and boil yourself.

Just remember "Pic's or it didn't happen!"
Keep it on 2 wheels, squishy side up. Enjoy the ride, the destination is only incidental, the ride is the reason for the trip.
