I think this is a good time to rant about something that really pisses me off. I just received an SMS from the Canadian High Commission of Malaysia, telling me that I will be fined if I don't vote in the next federal election!
I called the Council and they confirmed the information. Now don't get me wrong, I vote and I believe that it is every Canadians RIGHT to vote or if they so choose, not to vote. I know someone is going to say that it is important for everyone to vote, but I figure if they aren't voting it's because they don't know what they are voting for, or not voting for as the case may be.
Back to my rant, Canadians in Canada are not required to vote, nor are they fined, they can opt out, as many Canadians do. But because I am living in another country I must vote, I am probably one of the least appropriate people to expect to vote, I don't keep up with the day to day goings on in the Canadian Government! WTF!
Ok, all done, clear the streets!
