I've been lurking for about 2 months, since I got my Kindle, just now getting comfy enough with it to give feedback.

I got the Otterbox Commuter Series "case," and basically can ditto everything that the individual said a few pages ago about pros and cons. I really liked the feel of the cover, and I felt like the body was protected just fine.

Unfortunately, it doesn't protect the most vulnerable (now I know) part of the device; the screen. I went ahead and used the silly screen protector it came with, which surely helped avoid scratches, however, I don't think it provided nearly enough bang-around protection. I'm a full-time student and that is what I bought the Kindle for, so unless it is in my hand, its usually in my backpack, which contains bulky, heavy things that can press on the Kindle at weird angles for extended periods of time.

I'm fairly certain this is why my screen malfunctioned last week. I received a prompt replacement from Amazon, because the customer service lady said it sounded like a device malfunction, not abuse, but I am skeptical of the complete blame being put on the device.

Sooo, I'm sending the Otterbox back after a call to their customer service. I'll have to save a bit more money, but I'll probably get an Oberon cover... I'm a Renaissance Faire geek and looooove his designs. They remind me of Bald Mountain, a now defunct store that made lovely products in the same vein.
