My experience with my Kindle3 has shown that it can't be compared to a computer screen. Mind you, I have to admit to not using a screen to read a book though the sheer volume of data on the screen would be daunting.
The beauty of the Kindle technology is that you can sit down somewhere comfortable, curl up or whatever you like, and read in perfect comfort. And, if you are relaxed, that lack of tension makes reading less stressful on the eyes especially as the Kindle has no screen glare.
I have just switched from reading an old paperback version of Stephen Donaldson's "Wounded Land" from the Second Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, to reading it ebook format. The print on the screen is much easier to read than the old printed typeface, especially as I can alter the font size and style to suit my mood. Also, you don't have the problem of having to fold the book's spine right back to read to the end/start of the line!
