The Sony implements PDF just fine. The problem is that it is hard to read A4/letter sized PDF files on a 6" screen. For PDFs designed for the Reader it works like a charm -- I have a bunch and they are great.
For others, pdflrf has been a joy to use. (I have only used it in the GUI once and the rest in command line mode.) It is excellent for converting CBZ files.
