Strongly held opinions tend to result in strongly worded statements of those opinions. The P&R forum exists to be a home for such discussions, and it's "opt in" with the presumption that you understand what you are getting into and can tolerate the "strongly worded".

It's also a place where topics that devolve into that sort of argument get shunted, Because the rest of the MobileRead participants probably aren't interested in being forced to watch the hard code debaters go at it hammer and tongs.

Some political discussion is inevitable in a topic like this. As long as it stays civil and retains elementary courtesy and respect for holders of dissenting opinions, it doesn't get banished to the P&R forum.
