There are more knowledgeable people than me who will hopefully be along to answer but here is a basic:
When you plug the NC into your computer, is it on all the way? If it's in sleep mode the computer may not recognize it. I had that problem. Turn your NC on all the way, then plug it in and see if that solves the problem.
