I checked and the local Borders is not closing. There is no B&N or BAM here where I live so that is probably why. It is located in a mall (in neighboring state) and is quite good size. Has a nice area where you can take a book and read it. I have taken books there and read through them as I decide which ones I can buy. They seem to do a good business, but I don't go there often, unless I have to go to the mall. It is a 30 minute drive that isn't worth it when I can order from Amazon and get the books I want.

There is a Walden's store close by, but the shelves are crowed, always busy and the workers can be rude, gripping about how Amazon is hurting them. One guy was telling me that the locals should buy from local stores to keep them open, that we should enjoy the personal experience of buying from the store and the helpfulness of the workers.
Yeah, his attitude alone had me not wanting to go there. It wasn't so much as what he said as how he said it.

I can get my books cheaper and faster at Amazon. And get the ones I want. They seem to never have the specific one I want at either store.
