Turns out the font that I was using was Droids Sans and not DejaVu. I also realized that the Kindle uses Serif for the main screens which is why it looks different.

Does Droids Sans not have an italic typeface? I looked at the italic and bold italic files and they are DejaVu typefaces.

Also, I downloaded the Droids Sans archive, and it doesn't seem to work. All of the serif fonts are just renamed sans-serif fonts; is that correct? does this no longer work with fw 3.X?
