The problem with manga is the dialogs. You need a big screen to read the small writing or good zoom capabilities. I've found that iPad and Kindle DXG satisfy those two requirements, with iPad being faster of course.

Sony ereaders can be a good alternative but the screen is not as big , which means, lot of scrolling and zooming. I personally find that quite annoying but some people find no issue on that.

Most manga are black and white only so a color device should not be a must.
