I got an iPad 2 for my mom, and her birthday is not for 2 months. During that time I'm setting everything up for her (email, facebook, yadda yadda). And, of course, enjoying the device myself (so shoot me).

But no, unless you desired to skype/face time/video conference -- there is no compelling reason to sell your iPad to get the iPad 2. Not if reading is your main use.

The iPad 2 is all around faster. Even for reading -- when you open up a book, or change fonts, the iPad 2 processes faster than the iPad. It's NICE, but it's not "spend money that you could spend on other things" type of nice. Might as well wait for the iPad 3 as the original iPad never felt slow to me in the first place.

It is faster....it is thinner....it is a bit lighter. I will miss it when I give mom hers.

Just depends on one's available spending money. I thought the $500 I spent on the original iPad was the best $500 I ever spent on entertainment. Selling it for $300, and buying the iPad 2 for $500 -- an outlay of $200 for newer, faster, thinner, lighter? Well, maybe that's not such a bad thing.
