Automatic cleaning by Sigil
Hi
I have been an occasional user of Sigil Linux for some time and have stuck to a portable 0.24 version which provides me what I need.
I had recently on the French forum to stand for Sigil which was accused by one Atlantis user of "destroying agressively files", causing "fatal errors" on a iPad, mishandling superscript tags and so on.... Of course, this was only talk, not ONE file was shown to prove it, but FUD is spreading this way. AFAIK, Atlantis produces html files only.
I think this may be related to a misunderstood behaviour of Sigil which use html Tidy to automatically correct unclean html files. For example, I know that italic, bold and superscript tags are being replaced by "span sgc" somethings.
Of course if they produced first clean xhtml files, they would experience no changes and there would be no misunderstanding. But as this will probably not happen this century, could you point on any information documenting the kind of automatic changes Sigil/Tidy provides ?
I've read you planned to add a ON/OFF switch button for Tidy. Which version of Sigil has it? Where can we download 0.4 beta?
Sorry for all these questions. I will translate your reply in French on the same forum.
Again thanks for Sigil.
