Oh boy, trying to read the second of the two document types smurfymom will leave you dissapointed when you use eReaders. Manufacturers seem to go extra mile into disabling their readers from displaying pdf's correctly. Infact, anything beyond small-font, text-only pdf will end up as mangled mess on any eReader.
They would all like to see you buy reader after reader in your quest for the PERFECT one. Short answer is: there's no perfect eReader. It all depends on the complexity of the documents you want to view. Especially when it comes to complex pdf's full of charts, tables, bullet points, etc. it is BUYER BEWARE! None of them will display those pdf's correctly. If you are sensitive to backlit screens and prefer eInk displays and have complex pdf's- you are out of luck.
Sorry if I threw you off, but latest is not always the greatest...
